The Farm
Phil’s Farm is a certified organic vegetable farm in Bowdoinham, Maine. We grow a wide variety of vegetables on 5 acres each season and focus on improving the health of our soil as the foundation to everything we do. Healthy soil enables us to grow nutritious, flavorful food and helps protect our crops from pests and extreme weather events. Not to mention, it stores carbon and is our best tool for mitigating climate change.
We work hard grow food in a way that we believe is best for the environment, our customers and us farmers. We are very conscious of the products we use and what risks they pose to the environment and our bodies. Therefore, we sparingly use pesticides, do not use any disposable plastic mulch and minimize plastic packaging. We love spreading compost, planting cover crops and observing pollinators buzzing around our fields. We want you to taste the difference in food that is grown in harmony with the natural world.
You can buy our food through at the Portland Whole Foods and through Daybreak Grower's Alliance.
Phil Cuddeback
I am a farmer at heart. I love to work with my body and mind, to be challenged daily and to work with nature to create new life. My interest in agriculture began here in Maine when I went to college at Bowdoin. I was absorbed into a supportive local food community while exposed to the unsightly realities of industrialized farming, and I was captivated. Since that time, I have worked on farms in Maine, Nicaragua, California, Boston and New York City. Each year, I continue to unveil new aspects of agriculture that continue to fascinate me. I hope to never stop learning.
Oh and did I mention I love pigs, hence our logo.
